Montessori schools are
so named because they follow the philosophy and principles
developed by Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952), the first woman
physician in Italy .
The results of her work attracted attention and acclaim
through out the world.
Many of Dr. Montessori’s ideas have been incorporated
into the mainstream of education, but there are distinct differences
between traditional nursery schools and Montessori schools.
Most Montessori schools are independent, as we are,
and each school has its own individual character.

| Traditional nursery
schools are more focused on play and pretend activities, whereas
Montessori schools are more reality and learning oriented.
We offer mixed-age classrooms (2 1/2 - 5 years and
5-9 years), which motivate the younger children to try many
new things as they watch those just a little older than they.
The older children enjoy the privilege of doing more
advanced work and helping the younger ones.
A sense of a warm, caring community is demonstrated
in everyday life as the children are encouraged and shown
how to be considerate and helpful to others.

| At The Mustard Seed
Montessori School, our primary goal is to help each child develop
confidence, enjoy learning and find a sense of inner satisfaction
and pleasure in what he or she has accomplished. |
